Mike Pero is one of New Zealand’s most recognised business personalities. From a Christchurch motorcycle workshop to national boardrooms and primetime television, his journey is a uniquely Kiwi story of grit, ingenuity, and relentless drive.
Mike’s career began with a wrench in hand, quickly rising from motorcycle mechanic to national road-racing champion, claiming six New Zealand titles—an achievement few have matched in over half a century. His move into life insurance saw him topping national sales charts, achieving Million Dollar Round Table status by age 27. Along the way, he also became a commercial pilot, flying for Mount Cook Airline out of Auckland.
In 1991, Mike took on the major banks with the launch of Mike Pero Mortgages—introducing a customer-focused broker model that redefined the industry. He later co-founded Pacific Simulators, a flight simulator company that sold for $15 million within three years. Then came real estate. In 2011, he launched Mike Pero Real Estate, growing it from a standing start to 62 offices nationwide before it was sold to Australian firm Liberty Financial in a deal estimated at $20 million.
In 2021, Mike returned to public attention as the frontman for TVNZ’s “The Apprentice Aotearoa”, bringing his straight-talking business style and deep understanding of the SME landscape to a national audience.
A serial entrepreneur who thrives in small-to-medium business, Mike has built and sold multiple ventures by blending smart branding, street-level insight, and practical leadership. His passion remains in creating sustainable value, often punching above his weight and proving time and again that big impact doesn’t require big budgets—just big ideas and bold action.

Founder, Property Investor, Strategist, Ilse Wolfe is New Zealand’s leading value-add property coach. Called the Cashflow Queen, and as founder of Wolfe Property Coaching, she’s built and refined a portfolio worth over $20 million and has guided clients through more than 500 renovations nationwide — all using her Cashflow Hacking™ framework to create high-yield, cashflow-strong assets.
Before developing her system, Ilse followed the familiar path many investors take — buying rental properties, accepting negative cashflow, and hoping long-term growth would rescue the investment. As her top-ups escalated, it became obvious the traditional approach was broken. That realisation prompted a complete shift in direction and ultimately led her to develop a cashflow-first framework that delivers significant rental uplift and equity creation.
At the NZ Property Conference 2026, Ilse will share insights on:
- The expensive lessons from her investing journey
- If she could start again what she would do
- Real case studies and results from past renovations
If you’re looking for secrets to build a cashflow positive property portfolio, Ilse Wolfe is the keynote speaker to save to your schedule.
